Hi, I’m Chelsea!

(she/her)

In a culture that equates your productivity to your self-worth, it can be a challenge to feel comfortable and guilt-free when you choose to take care of yourself. I reject the cultural beliefs that shame us and try to force us to endure, rather than enjoy. Seeking help is a show of strength, there is no shame in it, and you shouldn’t have to “tough it out” on your own or “just get by”.

Whatever it is about your relationships, connections, or experiences with intimacy that brought you here deserves attention. I’m interested in helping you feel more like yourself, more alive, and more at ease in the world.

Welcome

I am a Los Angeles-based Marriage and Family Therapist, focusing on sexual wellness, pleasure, and LGBTQIA+ affirming psychotherapy.

I am currently available to see individuals, couples, throuples, quads, and friends via telehealth and in person in the Larchmont neighborhood every Thursday.

I am passionate about alleviating the impacts of systemic and internalized racism, sexism, transphobia, and homophobia. My goal is to support you in imagining new possibilities for your life, deepening your relationships, and addressing both your individual experience and the society and culture in which you live.

Much of my work is relational, meaning that our trust and connection is most important. I want to meet you where you are right now and support you in moving towards a more intimate relationship with each part of yourself.

I particularly enjoy working with intimate relationships (friends, lovers, nesting partners, etc.), bisexual & pansexual folks, and those seeking more pleasure and joy in their every day.

As young as 5 years old, I worried about dying. I tried to tell the adults in my life about my fears and realized that nobody wanted to talk to me about it. This happened again at 13 when I realized I was bisexual. Nobody around me understood. I felt that there was something wrong with me. I felt like I was all alone.

It wasn’t until later in life that I started to seek out environments where I could give voice to the parts of myself that never got to be expressed. I worked in a women’s sexual health clinic and an LGBTQIA+ suicide prevention center. Eventually, this work led me to Antioch University LA where I obtained a Masters in Clinical Psychology. Now it is my daily work to join my clients as they talk about the difficult things; the challenges, worries, and parts of themselves that have been rejected or ignored.

I work with a wide range of individuals and partners on issues like anxiety, depression, shame & guilt, loneliness, relationship issues, grief & loss, sexuality & sexual expression, and identity exploration all through a trauma-informed & sex-positive lens.

When I’m not working, I might be spending time with friends, enjoying a tasty treat, or going on walks around my neighborhood with my dog Scoop.

About Me

Hi, I’m Scoop!

My rate is $200 per 50-minute session. I’ve set my rate so I can afford to work with anyone and everyone who needs services; this rate reflects the cost of my education and professional licensing. If cost is a barrier, I have a limited number of reduced rate, sliding scale spots available for those who may have financial concerns.

I am not currently empaneled with any health insurance. However, I can provide you with a superbill which you can submit for possible reimbursement.

If you are not located in California, I offer coaching-like services that include psychotherapeutic methodologies but are not considered psychotherapy. If you are interested in working together in this capacity, please note that you are agreeing to be responsible for your participation in this work and any psychological work that you choose to do, and will not hold Chelsea Monty responsible for any damages that occur.
